Hamstring Tendon ACL Autograft

A Hamstring Tendon ACL autograft is exactly what it sounds like... The new ACL is created by using your hamstring tendon.

Advantages:
  • A little less painful than the patellar method.
  • Can be used in younger patients who have open growth plates.
Disadvantages:
  • Surgery with this method can be a little bit longer. The method of harvesting the hamstring is tricky.
  • Considered slightly weaker than the patellar method.
  • You probaby won't want to use this method if you've had problems with hamstring tears.
